Milwaukee – After 56 years of business, that’s it!
In a post on social media, that’s it! announced that they will not celebrate another anniversary.
Bar is a staple element LGBTQ in Milwaukee and is known for its performances and events presenting Queen Drag.
In their announcement, that’s it! He said that this closure is due to Covid and the latest construction, making their sidewalk on Wells Street closed, saying, “Covid’s crisis and years after 2020, accompanied by the 8 months closure of our road and the sidewalk last year, put the business in a position that we cannot finally overcome.”
That’s it! He continues to thank all the staff, performers and friends of Bari.

In a statement, Alderman of Milwaukee Peter Burgelis and Alderwoman Jocasta Zamaripa thank the talented staff and performers for making a home for many.
Burgelis and Zamaripa encourage everyone to continue to support local Queer businesses.
That’s it! Honors at the end of June and Joseph Brehm as the founders of the bar in their bidder post saying: “While they are no longer with us, they would have fought in recent years alongside us. Their memory and heritage live in our hearts as well.”

Milwaukee finds himself reflecting in a heartbroken moment in Milwaukee’s LGBTQ history. This summer it would have marked the 57th anniversary of this is it!, A bar, performance space and a meeting place that was a cornerstone of the city’s LGBTQ+ community for generations. Unfortunately, this holiday will never happen, as owner George Schneider announced the permanent closure of business today.
In the name of the city and the entire community, we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for this is it! for his extraordinary and wide and wide influence over the years. For nearly six decades, this iconic institution has been more than just a bar – it has been a sacred place, a safe space and a life meeting place for the Milwaukee LGBTQ community.
For the dedicated staff, the talented performers and the unwavering friends who did this is that! A house for so many, we thank you. Your passion, commitment and soul brought this place to life, creating a legacy of love, joy and inclusion that will never be forgotten.
We accept the extraordinary challenges they face in recent years, and while it is deeply saddened that we bid farewell, we also keep love, joy and resistance that this is! represented for so many. We are particularly grateful to honor the legacy of the founders, June and Joseph Brehm, whose vision and courage made this place possible. Although they are no longer with us, their spirit and dedication live in the community they helped create.
As we close this chapter, we encourage everyone to continue to support local and owned businesses, as they are the heart of what makes this city so special. Thank you, that’s it!, To be an irreplaceable part of our city’s history. Your impact will sound for the years ahead, and the love you share with this community will never fade.
